What We Do
Luz en Arquitectura is an internationally recognized studio specializing in architectural lighting design, founded in Mexico City in 2002 by Jessica Rodríguez and Kai Diederichsen.
For more than two decades, we have collaborated on a wide range of projects across diverse sectors of everyday life: residences, workplaces, hotels, restaurants, museums, retail environments, shopping centers, parks, gardens, and even ships. Our work has been internationally recognized and awarded, leading to an expanding presence in projects throughout the United States, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, the Caribbean, and across Central and South America.
We operate as a fully independent studio. We do not sell or install lighting products. This independence ensures that every project benefits from a design process focused entirely on creativity, integrity, and achieving the most meaningful lighting solution—never on promoting a particular product. Our approach is supported by decades of experience and a strong track record of successful projects.

How We Work
Lighting design is neither a purely technical task nor a linear process. It begins with the spatial concept and focuses on the luminous experience of people within architecture.
After carefully analyzing the conditions of each project, we develop an initial concept proposal that includes budget considerations and lighting control strategies. This concept is then translated into detailed drawings and technical specifications that guide the procurement and installation of lighting fixtures. We also support the implementation process, from fixture selection and procurement to on-site installation and final aiming, ensuring that the original design intent is fully realized.

Each team is supported by the technical expertise, technological resources, and specialized software required for the successful development of lighting design projects.
Jessica Rodríguez, partner, leads the administrative and organizational structure of the studio, while Kai Diederichsen, also a partner, oversees every project and the teams responsible for bringing them to life.
